Beyond the Storm: Crafting Your Tomorrow | Coping With Uncertainty and Stress

I'm feeling it, and I’ve noticed others are feeling it too! The chaos was temporarily paused for the holidays, but now it’s back to its regularly scheduled programing. TikTok was banned, but now it’s back under peculiar circumstances, raising lingering questions about freedom of speech and how much power those who serves us should have here in the United States.

Then there are the texts and requests on social media that have been shared and posted, urging silent protests:

All of this can generate incredible energy that initiates movements and creates positive change. I fully support taking a stand and have participated in various efforts. However, let’s be honest: it can be overwhelming, especially with the many other issues currently causing anxiety, stress, fear, and depression in our daily lives (whether ceasefires will be honored, the conflicts between political parties, the broken promises made by those who serve us, and the darker aspects of U.S. healthcare).

So, how do you cope with the uncertainty and sress, especially when it's part of life and you can't always hide from it? Self-advocacy is a powerful form of self-care and an act of self-preservation and rebellion. I thought it would be beneficial to discuss this and resurrect an old post from the community archives I shared on November 6th.

“Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare.” ~ Audre Lorde

Making Space for Yourself in Uncertain Times

I wanted to take a moment to remind you that it’s okay to feel the way you do. Acknowledge your feelings, name them, and don’t let anyone convince you that you should feel differently. These feelings are part of your life, your story, and your journey.

Give yourself the space and time to process these emotions. Allow yourself to arrive at a place where you can take a deep breath and know that tomorrow is a new day. That day can look and feel however you want it to. You can still create, dream, do, and be, despite the outside noise. In trying times or adversity, we often discover new ways to find ourselves, solve problems, slow down, and love more.

Permission To Cope & Recover Infogrpahic

So, how are you going to make time and space for yourself today? What do you want your tomorrow to look like?

Here’s a permission slip (or self-contract) to help ensure you take the time you need to feel, recover, and envision what you want your tomorrow to be.

With love and wellness,

Crystal
