Hi Alisha, I would love to share my current go to selfcare items.
As the seasons change I switch up my selfcare, I also listen to what my body needs. Right now, my body has been craving and loving the following (includes affiliate links):
My accupressure mat and pillow - Whenever I’m feeling stagnant, stressed, tight in the body, or having problems sleeping, I grab my acupressure mat. It helps relax my mind and body, while promoting blood circulation. I lay on the mat for 15 - 30 minutes before bed. I love mine so much that I added one to the boutique, you can find it HERE.
Reading - I’m currently reading Fast Like A Girl, by Dr. Mindy Pelz, to learn more about fasting. I was recently diagnosed with pre-diabetes. Fasting has been shown to help regulate glucose. This has been a major game changer, as knowledge has the power to help make change. I am now making changes in how, what, and when I eat to help bring my body into a healthy metabolic state.
Red light therapy - I live on the East Coast and winters can be long and gray. Due to this, I can struggle with seasonal depression. The red light mimics natural sunlight, among a variety of other health benefits. The model is use is the HG300 - Red Light Therapy Device
Tarot for journaling and meditation - I love using tarot to push myself to go inwards, practice mindfulness, and connect with my intuition. I use the Biddy Tarot Planner to help guide me with prompts and spreads. The tarot deck is use is called Lucid Dream, which you can find on the Daily Ritual boutique HERE.
Somatic stretching - This helps me feel less stiff when I wake up, stretches my body, helps relieve any stress my body still might be holding on to, as well as heal any trauma my body won’t release. I’m currently doing the Release Stress & Stored Trauma In 30 Days course by The Workout Witch. You can view all of her courses, including this one, HERE.
Music - My favorite morning playlist to ease into work is LoFi beats on Spotify. It has a similar tempo and rhythm, which can help create a consistent atmosphere. No distractions, and helps me stay focused.
Inscense or candles - Scents have so much power, they can alter our mood and even trigger memories. I’ve been including scent into my morning routine, to create a calm slow morning, easing into the day without stress or anxiety. I love Satya Positive Vibes Incense.
Feel free to let me know if you have questions about any of them. I would love to hear what your current go to selfcare items are. We can use this as a post to inspire each other to try new tools and ways to care for ourselves.
