Daily routines are unique and ever-changing, made up of several important moments/rituals in your day. One challenge is that we think it's just one part of our day, one part of the routine or day is more important than the other, or it follows a rigid schedule that you have to stick to each day.
Here is a new approach to creating those important moments/rituals in your day:
Ask yourself, what is your body asking for, and craving? Then you can create daily/selfcare rituals around this that fit into your schedule, that you enjoy. These rituals and moments become the most important parts of your day. One isn’t more important than the other, they all help improve your overall well-being.
For example, right now my body has been craving sun, rest, and feeling rejuvenated upon waking up. My intuition has also been dropping hints that it’s time to get back into a morning meditation of sorts.
I took this and was able to list out what I like to do that meets these needs:
Sun = 15 minutes outside, or red light therapy
Rest = no crazy workouts, as a matter of fact right now the focus is on a good night's sleep
Feeling rejuvenated upon waking up = Somatic stretching in bed before my feet hit the floor
Meditation = Tarot journaling/mediation at least 3 times a week. If I miss a day, I don’t beat myself up and try again the next morning I have time and feel the need to meditate.
I then plug each one of these into a block of time that makes sense for me in my day. These moments become the most important parts of my day, the parts where I’m taking care of what my body needs, and prioritize myself.
I hope this makes sense. It’s a different way of approaching a daily routine and what’s the most important. I would love to hear what you think about this approach and if it would work for you.
