Hi Nancy, thanks for asking your question! Skincare is a major part of selfcare, and one of my favorites! Believe it or not, facial massages are the best route to go. Face masks are best for moisturizing the skin and delivering ingredients into the skin (plus they feel amazing and promote relaxation). Masks won’t really correct facial or skin structure. Here are the benefits of facial massages:
Can help reduce fine lines, wrinkles, and sagging skin (it’s the blood circulation and stimulation of fascia that massages activate, improving the overall look/structure of skin and facial tissues). 1. Facia is the band of thin, fibrous connective tissue that wraps around and supports every structure in your body.
Improve circulation within your face, which can lead to less bloating and promote lymphatic drainage. 2.Your lymphatic system acts almost like a garbage disposal, helping your body filter out waste and bacteria. Lymphatic drainage massage, which is sometimes called manual lymphatic drainage, or MLD, involves gently massaging areas of the body to help move lymph fluid to an area with working lymph vessels.
Can help with reduce stress and relax the muscles in your face.
Can relieve sinus pressure, facial discomfort, and congestion from colds, allergies. Sinus massage may also help promote the drainage of mucus, alleviate headaches, and boost circulation.
Relieve symptoms of TMJ pain (I’ve had this type of massage done several times and it’s amazing, my jaw and neck felt so much better after dealing with teeth grinding from stress and anxiety). Click HERE for my TMJ massage walk through.
I suggest taking a look at local massage services in your area and see if they offer facial massages. For at home treatments, look at adding a Gua Sha to your routine with a nice face/body oil (I offer these on the boutique HERE). You can also do a quick search online for face yoga, or face massage techniques and find plenty of tutorials to do at home. But if you are still looking for a good face mask, check out The 15 Min Pamper Me Kit, it's full of masks that cover you from head to toe.
